As a recruiter, i need to keep up on current trends. I have to know what advertising will bring me the best ROI, where people are looking for jobs. I am constantly reading articles, blogs, the competitors’ websites.

Tackle your job search like a headhunter and do your own research.

Start with some insight into where companies are investing advertising dollars. Are you aware of the trend for that old standby, the Want Ad? Read what the recruitment community feels and use that in your search strategy.

As an alternative, many more companies are embracing social media and You Tube at a Corporate level. It’s now easier than ever to see what a company wants you to know about working for them.

Bloggers have great advice from the recruitment point of view.

For example, there is an accepted etiquette for Social Networking sites. Once you determine your desired company, do a search for people on LinkedIn and talk about what you saw on their You Tube video. (Do you have a LinkedIn account yet?)

After LinkedIn, sign up for Twitter and follow these Tweeters (not “Twitterers”)to help with your job search.

As for Job Boards, it seems that niche job boards are where to direct your focus now. Here is a list of the Top 100 Niche Job Boards.

Posting at all of those sites interupting your beach time? Here’s a tool to post your resume to multiple sites. I haven’t used it, but look for more like it soon, as a niche market for job seekers erupts.

Finally, learn about the new trend: Personal Branding. Start with the guru, who practices what he preaches.

Have a great idea or theory that might work? Start your own blog! One day people in your field may be posting YOUR site on their own blog.
